Study Says Submissiveness Better For Women's Health

Women who describe themselves as submissive have a lower risk of heart attacks than more aggressive types, Scottish researchers said 9 Jan 98. The researchers, who reported their findings in the Lancet Medical Journal, studied 783 women aged between 55 and 74 over a five-year period. The subjects were first given a personality test and then monitored for any evidence of cardiovascular disease. "For every four-point increase on the submissiveness scale, women decreased their risk of suffering from a heart attack by 31 percent," said officials from the
British Heart Foundation, which funded the research.
