This will respond to your internet inquiry sent to our offices regarding the Brownsville Assembly of God. I
appreciate the opportunity to answer your questions. I do not respond over the internet, however, as
some have taken what I have said out of context and sent it out. Therefore, I respond by mail over my
signature. I trust your understanding.
The Brownsville Assembly in Pensacola, Florida, is an outstanding church that has been in a sovereign
move of the Spirit now in excess of 2 years. They have recorded over 100,000 people saved and the
revival continues to go on. It is evident that God has done a sovereign work there and I will never position
myself in opposition to that. If I stand to be criticized for this, I will accept that. This does not mean that I
agree with everything that is taking place. There are some people from outside that are coming into
Pensacola to attend the revival that are not of the Assemblies of God or Pentecostal background, and it is
incumbent upon leadership to see that dignity has a priority. There is a sovereignty in God that the body
of Christ must recognize and work within that scriptural framework. We must recognize that we are
dealing with men and women who are not divine and are subject to error, and so, we need careful
oversight.
Pastor Kilpatrick has a great concern about excesses and is pastoring the revival with a great deal of
wisdom. Many of the problems that come out of a meeting like Pensacola are the wrong responses of
people. We will always have a great deal of flesh manifested in times of great intensity. It is the role of
leadership to balance the teaching against excess and at the same time maintain an openness to the genuine.
My desire is for revival to spread into everyone of our Assemblies of God churches. But, true revival only
comes with fasting and prayer. We have set aside Tuesday as a day of fasting and prayer for revival and
God is answering our prayers.
I trust this is helpful to you. May the Lord richly bless you is our sincere prayer.
Sincerely,
Thomas E. Trask
General Superintendent
