Deut.7:1 there are many nations (things,people,etc) in the land you are entering to possess.A. there are 7 listed,greater than you are
B. these 7 listed - are all descendants of Ham's son,Canaan,who Noah cursed and called to be servants.(Gen.9:25-27)
C. the things that are to serve us many times end up with us serving them.Deut.7:2 even tho they are mightier than you "when the Lord gives them over to you"
A. You must utterly destroy them
B. make NO covenant with them
C. show them NO MERCYDeut.7:3 You SHALL NOT make marriage with them
A. do not give your daughter
B. do not take his daughterDeut.7:4 If you rebel He will destroy you quickly
Deut.7:5 Do this to them
A. Break down their altars/break their pillars into pieces
B. Hew down their asherim (homes for their gods)
C. Burn their graven images with fireDeut.7:6 Our calling - reason (1Pet.2:9)
Deut.7:7 Not because of who we are
Deut.7:8 But because of who He is
